The Trager® Approach (often called Tragerwork) is a form of bodywork that uses gentle, rhythmic, rocking and stretching movements to create a sense of lightness, ease, and freedom in the body.
It’s not a deep tissue or “fix-it” style massage — it’s more of a neuromuscular re-education. The therapist gently moves your limbs in pain-free, repetitive motions, which “teaches” the nervous system to release tension patterns and move more freely.
Key components:
Gentle, non-forceful movement: no deep pressure or painful work.
Mind-body connection: the goal is to reprogram habitual muscle tension at a neurological level.
Self-care element: clients often learn “Mentastics®,” simple self-care movements they can do at home to keep the new ease and fluidity.
